Education Beyond Covid-19
On 17th March 2020 our Prime Minister,Tan Sri Muhiyiddin
Yassin announced to do Movement Control Order(MCO) all over country . In order
to break the chain of Covid-19 and lesser the risks of cases,our country must do
the MCO. I am as a student of Universiti Teknologi Mara Puncak Alam have to
continue my study eventhough we must keep stay at home. University Board give
many initiative for student to keep on track in their study. On April,
University Board introduced online distance learning(ODL) for lecturers and
students to keep interact and have lecture sessions until the end of semester.
All the assignments and final examination have to do by online method.
In my opinion,it is a good initiative by University Board to keep the continuity
on student’s studies. When our country facing this pandemic crisis,ODL are the
best solution while waiting the number of cases decrease. But I have certain
obstacles when doing ODL last semester. Firstly, internet connection are not
good enough to join lecture class. Sometimes I was forced to exit class due my
bad internet connection. It is feel so frustrated. Other than that,I found the
difficulty to complete group assignment. Group discussions are not running
smoothly and process of transfer information did not efficient because our
meeting held by online. Moreover, I feel ODL makes the information and tasks by
lecturer are not clear. I have to ask my
friends few times to get confirmation about some information and tasks. These
are several difficulties which I have to face when study using ODL last semester.
Before that, not all the things related with
ODL are bad. ODL also have a good side such as I can keep stay at home with my
beloved family.My expenses are greatly less compared to live at college and I
can do some savings. Maybe ODL not fully pratical for now due to certain areas
did not have a good internet coverage but it more easier compared to face to
face class when sending our assignment to lecturer and attend to class.
Finally,I hope our country will back normal in future because face to face
class are more effective than ODL class. I miss to have uni’s life with my
friends.
